Do you use responsibly sourced Soft and hard landscaping materials?

Yes, the provenance of all the materials used in our garden projects is very important to us. The plants are nearly all grown in UK nurseries, the timber is all FSC certified and the stone is only sourced from outlets who are signed up to the Ethical Trading Initiative. We are fully aware of the challenges of the climate crisis and are keen to encourage wildlife into gardens and adopt environmentally friendly methods throughout the garden project.

How much should I expect the project to cost?

This depends on the complexity of the design and the size of the garden. Another big contributing factor is the amount of excavation and groundworks needed but as a rough guide, a small courtyard garden installation would start at £10k and large family gardens range from £20k to £60k.

If we have a design from another garden designer, can you carry out the build?

Yes, we often work with other garden designers and architects to implement their drawings and take care of the construction/build side of the project.

Will there be a lot of mess?

We always aim to create as little disruption to our clients as possible and keep mess to an absolute minimum. Having worked on many sites with challenging access, we are very experienced in keeping things as tidy as is practicable. It is also important for the efficient running of the project that the site is kept as clutter free and tidy at all times.

How long will the build take?

This varies enormously from garden to garden. We work on a ‘one project at a time’ basis and so once we start work on a garden installation, we are committed to it until it has been completed. This continuity of attention means that the project is completed efficiently and to a high standard. It also means that we are on hand at all times should any changes or adaptations need to be made.

How long does the design process take?

This varies according to how much detail is required. A topographical drawing without levels or construction drawings can usually be produced in 2 to 3 weeks. A detailed survey and site analysis with a cross sections, levels and construction drawings can usually be completed within 6 to 8 weeks.

Will the garden be easy to maintain?

Very few people ask for a high maintenance garden! We know that many of our clients don’t have time to do a lot of maintenance and so we create gardens that look beautiful with minimal effort.

Will you provide us with instructions?

Yes, we usually provide care instructions for the plants and maintenance details for any timber or stone work.

What is the best time of year for landscaping to be done?

Having found that most projects can be carried out in the winter months, we work all the year round. Heavy rain can cause delays but there is often more of it in August than December! We have several heavy duty gazebos and very rarely lose days because of the weather.
